Despite exhibiting what appears to be a cavalier attitude about most everything, at Ibis we actually do respect your privacy and make every effort to provide a secure environment for online commerce.
Privacy
There is a certain amount of information we need to collect to process your credit card and give the brown truck guys the right address to drive to, stuff like that. We don’t share our information with anybody except the people who need it to process your order. And they don’t share it with anyone else.
We’re not going to send you email that you don’t want. We will send you email if you’re on our mailing list. You’re not automatically signed up if you order from us. We use a mail list service in order to ensure privacy. In fact, it’s impossible for us to put you on the mail list without you doing it yourself. Well, maybe not impossible, but it would be a waste of our time. We’re not hackers, we’re bike people.
Mailing list:
We maintain a list to enable us to keep you somewhat informed about the goings on at Ibis World Domination Headquarters. You need to jump through a couple hoops to get on the list, which prevents people other than you from signing you up. As we mentioned, we can’t even sign you up. You need to do it yourself. If you’re interested, head over to http://ibiscycles.com/contact/ and from there you can sign up.
Security
When you buy goodies from us, Nexternal handles the transaction safely and securely. After you fill your cart with all sorts of crap you don’t need with wonderful Ibis merchandise, you’ll head over to Nexternal’s secure site to complete the transaction. We’ll send you a confirmation email, and then all sorts of lights, buzzers and sirens will go off at the Ibis Megafacilty, thus waking us from our hibernation and informing us that we actually have an order to fill. Almost like magic, a person most likely dressed in brown and driving a brown truck will bring you the merchandise a short time later.
SSL Technology
Nexternal uses the latest, most secure industry-standards to safeguard your transaction. Here’s what they say about it.
“Security is provided on the application level, where Nexternal utilizes industry-standard 1024-bit secure socket layer (SSL) technology; and on the database level, where all credit card numbers and passwords are encrypted before storage. All servers are programmed to automatically download the latest security updates from Microsoft as they become available.
All servers and client machines on Nexternal’s LAN (including production, development, hosting, and e-mail servers) are protected by a Cisco PIX firewall to prevent unauthorized intrusion. Access to the colocation facility is strictly limited to authorized Nexternal personnel, who have 24/7/365 access.”
Translation: SSL Technology encrypts all of your personal information including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read, copied, stolen, downloaded or shoved where the sun doesn’t shine as the information travels over the Internet.
Equation: Good Guys 1, Bad Guys Zero.
If in the end you still don’t trust ordering online, you can always give us a call and we’ll take your credit card over the phone (We don't think this guy is listening...).
